What’s new for the 2008/2009 season at Jackson Hole and Snow King Resorts in Wyoming
At the end of the spring and summer tourism season, construction began for a brand new set of trams that will carry skiers and snowboarders around the Jackson Hole and Snow King Resorts. Not only is construction well on its way to being finished at this point, but the ski resort is already trying to decide who will ride the first tram of the season this coming winter, 2008 and 2009, because construction is on schedule and the first load test is scheduled for early November.
The Jackson Hole is holding a contest for who will win one of the first spots on the first Jackson Hole tram on Opening Day for the 2008 and 2009 winter season. The winner of the contest, along with a guest, will win a fully paid four day trip to the Jackson Hole, or a complete season pass for the entire 2008 and 2009 winter season. The prize package for these two lucky people includes two spots on the first tram to run on the opening day for the winter season, along with two airline tickets, four nights worth of lodging in a condominium in Teton Village, two full lift tickets for four days, and two VIP passes for the celebration of the Aerial Team launch.

What’s new for the 2008/2009 season at Schweitzer Mountain Resort in Idaho
The Schweitzer Mountain Resort in beautiful Idaho is situated between three stunning mountain ranges, with views traveling into Canada and across three states. The Schweitzer Mountain Resort is known for providing a myriad of different terrain types, including gladed runs, wide open bowls and plenty of smooth corduroy groomers. Stella, the only six-person high speed lift will bring you to all new heights, allowing you access to nearly 3000 acres of ski worthy terrain with nearly 90 open trails and plenty of space for open bowl skiing.
The variety of terrain styles offered by Schweitzer is part of what makes it a popular destination for skiers from all age groups and skill levels. 20 percent of the terrain is ideal for beginners, with a solid 40 percent dedicated to intermediate skiers. Advanced skiers can take advantage of 35 percent of these 2900 ski worthy acres, with a final 5 percent dedicated to the experts in winter sports.
During the winter months, the mountains situated around Schweitzer Mountain resort are available for skiing between 9am to 4pm, with night skiing activities offered throughout much of the winter months. Between 3 and 8pm between December 26 and January 5, and then again between January 11 and March 15 on Fridays and Saturdays these unique night time skiing activities are offered to interested parties that want to ski Schweitzer Mountain.
Big Sky Resort in Montana 2008/2009 season
What’s new for the 2008/2009 season at Big Sky Resort in Montana
The beautiful Big Sky Resort, situated in the vast mountains in Montana, is already working to put their winter event calendar together for the 2008 / 2009 skiing season. The proposed opening day for the Big Sky Resort’s winter season is November 27, though this tentative date may change based on weather, and when the best levels of snow and freshest powder are expected. Holders of Big Sky Cards will be able to take advantage of Big Sky’s Free Ski Week beginning on November 30 of 2008 and continuing on until December 06 of that year. Anyone who has a frequency Sky Card, a mid-week pass or a 15x pass is allowed to enjoy this free week of skiing and snowboarding.
Sometime between December 1 and the last day of the year, Big Sky ski vacations will be celebrating RUST, Rails under the Stars. Here local sliders and riders will compete in a completely unique Rail Jam under the lights in the Resort’s plaza. The night will be finished by an incredible party, complete with fireworks.
The Big Sky Resort Hotels will open their doors for the first time on December 11, 2008, gearing up for the remainder of the winter season. Though plenty of activities will be held between this date and the end of the season, the only planned, organized activities that are scheduled so far are:
- Sno-Bar on January 17 of 2009
- Return of the Sno-Bar on January 24
- Dummy Jump on February 07.
- Free Ski from April 06 to April 12.
- Closing of the Season on April 12, 2009.
