Alaska Vacation Resorts
When you are looking for a place to ski in Alaska, there are a total of seven ski resorts that you can choose from.
Alpenglow is located at Arctic Valley and offers everything from skiing to snowboarding, from telemarking to snow skating. They have trails that appeal to everyone, whether you are a beginner, an intermediate skier, someone who likes a challenge, or an expert.
Alyeska is located less than an hour from Anchorage and offers skiers plenty of amenities, including packages where you can learn to ski and also learn to ski better, an ariel tram, and the beauty and majesty of being surrounded by the mountains of the Chugach Range
Eaglecrest is located right in the heart of Juneau, Alaska. If you think that you have heard of Eaglecrest, it’s because it’s home to both Hilary Lindh, former member of the United States ski team, and mono skier Joe Tompkins, member of the United States disabled ski team.
Hilltop ski resort is really geared towards beginners, with most of the slopes being beginner slopes. There aren’t any black diamond slopes at this resort, so it’s a perfect place for people who are just learning to ski to go.
Moose Mountain really makes skiing fun. There are trails for all abilities of skiing and instead of open air chair lifts they offer enclosed and heated busses to take you up the mountain. There is hardly a wait to get into one because the ride is quick and if the resort gets especially busy they add more to the traffic pattern so they keep you moving.
Mt. Eyak has trails that are more aimed towards the intermediate skiers, with most of the trails being neither the easiest nor the hardest, so those who are expert skiers may find the trails a bit too tame for their liking.
Mount Aurora Skiland Ski area offers a good choice when it comes to the intermediate and more difficult trails. Even though there aren’t any double black diamond trails, those who like a challenge will find something that they will enjoy here.
